The programs manager of Home Radio, Waris Annaakaa, expressed his disagreement to the concept of giving tablets to elementary schools while underlining the urgent problems with insufficient furniture and textbooks in many educational institutions.

On Tegyaayela, a prominent talk program on Home Radio, Annaakaa denounced the initiative, headed by Dr. Mahmud Bawumia, as an attempt to “create, loot, and share” Ghana’s meager resources.

Annaakaa compared the tablet idea to giving students in primary schools access to prior exams in order to express his worries.

He claimed that these programs fall short in addressing the basic issues that affect learning results.

Instead, he asked the government to place a higher priority on providing necessities like furniture and textbooks, which are necessary for fostering a positive learning environment.

The Programs Manager urged the government to switch from the conventional chalk system to marker boards because he thought it would greatly improve teaching and learning opportunities.

He underlined that classrooms need to be properly equipped to give pupils a comfortable environment in which to learn.

Every student should have access to textbooks, Annaakaa said, as he thought doing so would significantly improve learning results.

He called on the government to act immediately to address the present textbook shortage in many elementary schools.

The concerns expressed by many educators and parents who have long pushed for better facilities and resources in elementary schools are reflected in Annaakaa’s critiques.

Despite the possibility that the tablet project may modernize education, it is critical to solve the flaws that currently prevent efficient teaching and learning.

It is still to be seen whether Dr. Mahmud Bawumia and the administration would take these issues into consideration and direct resources toward meeting the critical requirements of elementary schools before launching the tablet program.

It is crucial to guarantee that the foundation is strong by providing the basic essentials that will enable Ghanaian children to achieve academically while the education sector works to adapt to the demands of the digital age.
