The Chief, elders, and the good people of Chegli in the Wa Municipality have extended their heartfelt gratitude to Y-PES Ghana and STAR Ghana Foundation for their transformative efforts in improving education in underprivileged communities through the “Community Volunteers in Teaching” initiative.
This unique project aims to support Junior High School (JHS) education by focusing on three core subjects: Mathematics, English Language, and Science. The initiative recruits intelligent and motivated community youth as volunteers to assist subject teachers in these areas.
Additionally, the project provides essential teaching and learning materials to further enhance the learning experience.
The Assembly Member for the area, Hon. A Walid Jnr, emphasized that this initiative will not only improve education but also empower volunteers. “This project will serve as motivation for the youth to take education seriously while also helping to instill discipline in younger students,” he stated.
The project, currently in its pilot stage, has selected Chegli as one of only two communities in the Wa Municipality, marking a significant step toward academic excellence in less privileged areas. Chegli community leaders and residents have committed to offering their full support to ensure the success of the initiative.
Hon. A Walid Jnr also highlighted how the project will foster stronger relationships between teachers and parents and serve as a bridge for better cooperation through the volunteers.
“We see this as a great opportunity and are honored to be a part of this project. We look forward to maintaining and growing our partnership with Y-PES Ghana and STAR Ghana Foundation to achieve even more together,” he added.
This initiative aims to uplift education standards in underserved communities and promises to create lasting impacts by empowering local youth and supporting educational development in Chegli.
