In a recent incident at Wa Technical Institute, a final-year student, Yissif Mudaair, has been fined GH¢2,000 by the Wa magistrate court for physically assaulting the school’s housemaster, Ishmail Musah Froko. The court ruled in favor of the victim, and the fine is intended to cover the treatment expenses of the assaulted teacher.

Yissif Mudaair pleaded guilty to the charges, and as a result, the court passed its verdict to penalize him for his actions. The court has ordered the student’s parents to pay the fine on his behalf.

Additionally, the judge ordered Yissif Mudaair to sign a bond committing to good behavior for a year. This bond is a precautionary measure to ensure that he refrains from any further violent incidents.

It is important to note that Salifu Razak, another defendant charged with the teacher’s assault, was not present during the court hearing. However, the third accused person, Christian Kieseh Confidence, was released from custody after investigations established his innocence in the incident.

The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which physical assault is regarded, particularly within an educational institution.
