Professor Sharif Mahmud Khalid, the son of former Ambassador and regional minister Dr. Mahmud Khalid, in Wa, upper west region has assumed the position of Associate Professor in Accounting and Finance at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) after nearly a decade with the University of Sheffield.

In his new role at Queen’s University, he will be based at Queen’s Business School, one of the leading business schools in the UK and Ireland.

Reflecting on his career at Sheffield University, Khalid shared:

“Sheffield has been an incredible academic home, nurturing my career over the years. In addition to providing pastoral care and fostering academic citizenship, I have had the privilege of serving in several leadership roles, including Unfair Means Director and, most recently, Dissertation Director of the Business School.”

Highlights from Sheffield University

During his tenure at Sheffield, Khalid’s peer-reviewed journal publications were exclusively focused on the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) journals. These include, but are not limited to, the Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, the Journal of Business Research, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, and Qualitative Research in Financial Markets, where he also served as an Associate Editor.

He served as the principal supervisor for five PhD students, successfully guiding them to graduation and replicating his expertise in multiple individuals. Additionally, he had the honor of serving as an external examiner for PhDs at leading universities, including the University of Dundee and Nottingham Trent University.
