In response to the ongoing serial killings in Wa, the Overlord of the Waala Traditional State, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has called for public support to fund a vigilante group aimed at helping the security agencies tackled the crisis.

The announcement was made during a brief press briefing held at the Wa Naa’s Palace, where his spokesperson, Jinpenhi Naa Ibrahim Kadri, elaborated on the measures being undertaken by the traditional council to curb the serial killings both physical and ancestral including the establishment of the vigilante group to collaborate with the security agencies to combat crisis.

The vigilante group’s operations will be crucial in combating the serial killings that have plagued the municipality since 2022. For security reasons, the members of this group remain undisclosed. The effectiveness of this initiative is heavily reliant on financial, technical and logistics support from the general public.

The Overlord has initiated the fundraising efforts with a seed contribution of GHC 5,000. Additionally, the four royal gates of the Waala Traditional State—Busa, Sing, Guli, and Kperisi—have each pledged GHC 1,000. Other notable donors include:

Yeri Naa: GHC 1,000
Alhaj Alhassan Foroko: GHC 1,000
Queen Mothers:GHC 500

The traditional council urges the general public to contribute to this cause, emphasizing the collective effort required to ensure the safety and security of Wa municipality. Contributions ranging from fuel, money, cars, torch and other crime fighting logistics are welcome at the office of the registrar in the Wa Naa’s palace after which a receipt will be issued to the contributor.

This will enable the vigilante group to operate effectively in the hunt for the serial killings.

The Waala Traditional State’s proactive measures and the establishment of a vigilante group demonstrate a community-driven approach to addressing the serial killings. With public support, these efforts can significantly enhance safety and restore peace in the municipality.
