Nurideen Abdul Ganiu, also known by the alias Anelka, has been remanded into prison custody for the second time by the Wa District Court. Ganiu is facing serious charges related to the alleged ritual killings of three individuals.

The court’s decision to deny bail came during a hearing on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Ganiu had requested bail, arguing that he posed no flight risk. His lawyer, Daud Giaz, emphasized that Ganiu had voluntarily surrendered to authorities and had a permanent residence in Wa, making him easily locatable.

However, the police prosecutor countered by stating that investigations into the case are still ongoing and requested the case be adjourned until August 22, 2024. The prosecutor underscored the gravity of the charges and the necessity for a thorough investigation.

Despite the defense’s argument, the presiding judge, Maxwell Maxibrain Titriku, sided with the prosecution, denying Ganiu’s bail request. The judge ordered Ganiu to remain in prison custody until his next court appearance on August 22, 2024.

The case has garnered significant public attention due to the serious nature of the allegations and the community’s interest in the outcome of the trial. The alleged ritual killings have sparked fear and concern within the Upper West Region, and many are closely watching the judicial proceedings.

As the investigation continues, Ganiu remains in custody, with his fate yet to be determined by the court. The case is set to resume later this month, with the public eagerly awaiting further developments.
