Nurudeen Abdul-Ganiu, commonly referred to as Anelka, has been charged with the unlawful deaths of Kobina Biengu, Taasung Osman Sumani, and Richard Kwesi Poku. The 39-year-old trader faces serious allegations of intentionally causing the deaths of these three individuals, an offence that has sent shockwaves through the Wa Municipality.

The case was brought before the District Court on Wednesday, July 23, 2024, with Mr. Maxwell Titriku presiding. During the proceedings, Anelka was remanded in prison custody while the case was adjourned to August 8, 2024, for further hearings.

The charges stem from a dramatic sequence of events on July 19, 2024, when Anelka was pursued by military intelligence. Initially spotted driving his Tundra V8, he attempted to evade capture, leading to a high-speed chase through various areas, including the Merry Land drinking spot and Mangu, a suburb of Wa.

Despite multiple efforts by the military to apprehend him, Anelka managed to escape and later fled to his home in Kumbiehi, where he abandoned his vehicle before fleeing the scene. He eventually surrendered to the police on July 22, 2024.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the severity of the allegations and the dramatic nature of Anelka’s attempted evasion. The upcoming hearings are anticipated to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the deaths and Anelka’s involvement.
