Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV the overlord of the Waala traditional council have issued Statement on the Gruesome of two watchmen in one night  in the Wa Municipality.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time such gruesome murder cases are reported in the Wa municipality, it all started on September 2022 where the municipality recorded a higher murder of watchmen and the mentally ill persons.

But all too soon, is like the societal menace is rising its ugly head again as two watchmen were murdered on Monday night.

In the press statement, the revered Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV wrote

“Fellow natives of the Wala State,

With a heavy heart, I address you today regarding the tragic news of the gruesome murders of two of our security guards, which has deeply affected our peace and tranquility. These unfortunate incidents took place in Wa Municipality on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Our community has experienced such horrors before, and despite raising alarms, we seem to have let our guard down.

The underlying issue here is systemic, stemming from a failure to maintain effective security measures. It is imperative that we recognize our collective responsibility in ensuring peace and security. The perpetrators of these heinous acts are individuals who live among us, shielded from accountability by our inaction.

In a recent joint meeting with the Traditional Council and the Regional Security Committee (REGSEC), several measures were agreed upon for immediate implementation to enhance security and prevent further loss of life:

1. **Beefing up security** with support from the Security Services Headquarters.
2. **Increasing security patrols and visibility** in the Municipality.
3. **Providing lighting** in all dark areas of the Municipality.
4. **Collaborating with neighborhood watch volunteers** to monitor activities.

The Traditional Council has also requested an urgent update on the investigations into previous ritual murders, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability to restore public confidence. Furthermore, cooperation with National Security and young, local volunteers will be essential in these efforts.

Residents are urged to support these measures and remain vigilant. Landlords and hoteliers should monitor the movements of their guests closely, particularly at night. We all must adopt the principle: “See Something, Say Something.”

We assure you that additional security measures, which cannot be disclosed for operational reasons, are also being implemented. Remain calm but vigilant as we work together to rid our community of these criminals.”

Thank you.

Signed,

Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV
Overlord of Wala State & President of the Wala State Council
