Wa, Upper West Region – A tragic incident has occurred in Kumbiehi, a suburb of the Wa Metropolis, where the lifeless body of 18 months Jalilu Abdul Gafar was discovered in an uncompleted manhole.
Little Gafar was reported missing on Wednesday evening, prompting his parents to file a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies. A search operation immediately launched by community members was unfortunately hampered by a Wednesday night rainfall that swept through the Wa Metropolis.
However, on early Thursday morning, the dedicated community search team made the grim discovery of little Gafar’s body in an uncompleted manhole within the vicinity.
Personnel from the Ghana Police, National Security, EOCO, and NADMO were all present at the tragic scene to gather first-hand information. Investigations have been launched in earnest to ascertain the exact cause of Abdul Gafar’s death. His body has since been transported to the Upper West Regional Hospital for an autopsy.
