The mass defilement of schoolgirls in Wa by the suspect Rashid Anaata has shocked and amazed residents in the municipality and the region. Over 30 schoolgirls aged 8-12 have accused Rashid Anaata of defilement, and 18 of them have undergone medical examinations to confirm their claims.

According to the alleged victims, Rashid Anaata lured them to his room with promises of money, biscuits, toffees, and food. One victim, a nine-year-old girl, disclosed that after engaging in sexual intercourse with her, the suspect inserted a Vita milk bottle into her private area.

The alleged victims of defilement are traumatized and in need of physical and psychological support. The Upper West Department of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has provided financial assistance for the medical examination fees of ten victims.

The cost of medical examinations and laboratory tests (GH 500 and GH 60 per victim, respectively) may be a barrier preventing more victims from coming forward to report their experiences with the alleged serial pedophile in Wa.
