The Wa Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of Hon. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin, has taken a significant step towards enhancing agricultural activities and improving infrastructure in the Wa Municipality. The assembly recently handed over a site for the construction of a dam in Dapouha and initiated the construction of the Nakori-Kpongu road.
Funded under the Ghana Productive Safety Net Project, the dam construction project aims to serve as a crucial irrigation source for Dapouha and neighboring communities, particularly during the dry season.

By promoting sustained growth and encouraging dry-season farming, the project aims to bolster agricultural activities, with a specific focus on cultivating tomatoes and vegetables to benefit the community’s youth.
During the sod-cutting ceremony in Dapouha, Hon. Tahiru Moomin emphasized the importance of community participation in the construction process. While the project has been awarded to a contractor, the active involvement of community members will provide employment opportunities, enabling them to earn income through daily labor.
This approach aims to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the community and reduce youth migration in search of employment opportunities.
The dam construction project is expected to be completed within a three-month period by Heipkast Company Limited, subject to the smooth progress of the construction process.
In addition to the dam project, the Municipal Chief Executive also initiated the construction of the Nakori-Kpongu road. This project aims to improve road infrastructure for commuters and motorists in the Wa Municipality. Alphalem Company Limited has been assigned as the contractor for this project, with a goal of completing it within the shortest possible period.
The Chiefs and residents of the beneficiary communities expressed their gratitude and happiness, acknowledging the immense potential these projects hold in enhancing agricultural productivity, reducing unemployment, and improving road infrastructure in the Wa Municipality. They extended their heartfelt thanks to the Municipal Assembly for its kind gesture and unwavering support.
