In a recent reported regional ministerial reshuffle Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, is said to be reassigned to the Upper East Region whiles  Hon. Stephen Yakubu, the upper east regional minister will take over the reins in the Upper West. This move has sparked debate among governance experts and former MCE for Wa Municipal  Hon. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha had his bite on this.

The former MCE concerns surround the timing and potential effectiveness of the reshuffle. With only seven months remaining until the December elections, he argue that both ministers will face a time crunch in building trust and rapport with local leaders and communities in their new regions.

Additionally, he stressed on lack of inherent regional knowledge for both Dr. Hafiz and Hon. Stephen is a point of contention highlighting the importance of understanding a region’s specific economic, social, and political challenges to implement effective policies.

The revered former mce beliefs that local government is for the local people and to attain maximum,they must be represnted by their on people but rather not imposing a ‘stranger’ on the people in the last minute.
