Alphonso Faatah Theresa, a 19-year-old sickle cell patient hailing from Takpo in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region, is in dire need of financial support to undergo a crucial grafting surgery.

The surgery, scheduled at the Upper West Regional Hospital, has been recommended by doctors to address a severe leg sore and mitigate the impact of her sickle cell condition. With the cost of the surgery amounting to GHC 2,000, her family is reaching out to the public for assistance in raising the necessary funds to save her leg and improve her overall well-being.

Theresa Faatah, a second-year student at the Wa Technical Institute, has faced significant health challenges due to a debilitating sore on her leg, aggravated by her sickle cell disease. Her mother, a single parent responsible for five children, has tirelessly sought medical help for Theresa, leading them to the Upper West Regional Hospital.

Initially, doctors recommended amputating her leg due to the severity of the condition. However, the procedure was postponed as the family could not afford the GHC 5,000 required for the operation.

The family acknowledges the financial constraints they face, emphasizing that Theresa’s mother cannot shoulder the entire burden alone. They are appealing to the generosity and compassion of individuals, organizations, and philanthropists to come forward and contribute towards the life-saving surgery.

Every donation, regardless of size, will make a significant impact in providing Theresa with a chance to regain her health and continue her education.

The general public are encouraged to rally around Theresa and her family during this critical time. Any form of support, whether financial or by spreading awareness about her situation, is greatly appreciated. Together, we can alleviate the burden faced by this brave young woman and give her the opportunity to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
