This week, Bolgatanga and the Upper East Region were visited by US Ambassador to Ghana Virginia E. Palmer.
The Upper East Regional House of Chiefs office in Bolgatanga was reopened by the Ambassador, Vice President Bawumia, Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu, and Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Honorable Stephen Asamoah Boateng.

According to Ambassador Palmer’s remarks during the inauguration event, “The U.S. Government stands together with local partners in the Upper East to advance their goals of promoting peace, improving livelihoods, and increasing community well-being for more cohesive and resilient communities.”
The US government provided funding for the refurbishment of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs office.
For Chiefs, Queen Mothers, and technical staff, the recently restored building offers a welcoming and inclusive location for meetings, work, and training.

The U.S. Agency for International Development committed to strengthening community cohesiveness, peace, and stability in Ghana by contributing more than $140,000 to the renovation of the Upper East House of Chiefs building.
During her two-day visit, Ambassador Palmer also met with women traditional leaders, grantees and partners of the U.S. Embassy, former fellows of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, and representatives from other U.S. government exchange initiatives.
