Ashida Abass Nyasu, a 29-year-old nurse at Tumu Municipal Hospital in the Sissala East Municipality of Upper West Region, is battling for her life after being diagnosed with kidney failure.

The mother of two, currently breastfeeding her three-month-old daughter was diagnosed with the condition on January 14, 2025 at the Upper West Regional Hospital.

The fundraising campaign for Ashida Nyasu’s kidney transplant in India is ongoing. Ashida, who has been battling kidney disease, requires an urgent transplant that will cost GHS 800,000. As of today, GHS 532,200 has been raised through various contributions, leaving a balance of GHS 267,800 still needed to complete the funding for her treatment.

Current Medical Status:
Today, Nyasu Bashira appeared on Radford FM and shared an update on her sister’s condition. She confirmed that Ashida is currently undergoing dialysis at a private facility in Accra. Although Ashida’s condition remains serious, Bashira reported that her health has improved with regular dialysis sessions.

Each dialysis session costs approximately GHS 1,460, which includes both the procedure and necessary medications. Ashida undergoes dialysis twice a week as part of her treatment plan.

Bashira also revealed that one of Ashida’s brothers has agreed to donate one of his kidneys for the transplant. Testing is currently being conducted to determine the compatibility of the donor kidney with Ashida.
