Upper West Regional Islamic Education Unit Donates to School Children of Domawa Islamic School

As part of efforts to provide the enabling environment to enhance teaching and learning amongst pupils under its unit, the Upper West regional Islamic Education Unit has made a donation of some school uniforms and sandals to pupils of Domawa Islamic School in the Wa West District of the Upper West region.

The donation which was led by Alhaaj Abdul Rashid Mahmoud, Manager of the Islamic Unit and other members of the council, saw the school receive 100 sets of school uniforms as well as 150 pairs of closed sandals.

Aside the pupils, parents and guardians also received a donation of clothes and other assorted outfits.

The occasion was a rare spectacle to the good people of Domawa as they indicated this was the first time the school was receiving such a donation since its inception.

On that score, the chief of Domawa, teachers, parents and guardians, opinion leaders, and school children all expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the kind gesture shown them by the unit.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Education Unit Manager, Mr. Abdul Rashid Mahmoud used the opportunity to express his appreciation for the warm reception exhibited by the people of Domawa and it’s environs.

He however admonished parents and guardians, opinion leaders, teachers as well as the entire school population to prioritise education in the area.

In this vein, he cited many success stories of indigenes who made it through education even though they hailed from less-endowed villages, to butress the relevance of education.

He mentioned high-profile educated personalities like Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Yiele Chireh, former Wa West MP and others who happened to have come from small communities but fought hard to succeed in life.

Against this backdrop, he emphasized that, the people of Domawa can also produce such great personalities in the future if they keep pushing hard and make education a priority.

He charged all the school children of Domawa Islamic school to make punctuality a habit and study hard to benefit themselves and the society.

The Assembly Member for the electoral area, the MP’s representative, the District Education Director representative and the chief of the community advised the school children to take their studies serious and make judicious use of the items donated to them.
