In a bid to strengthen the fight against the ongoing Cerebrospinal Meningitis in upper west region, the Member of Parliament for Lambussie Professor Titus Beyuo t has donated medical supplies and consumables worth GHS 55,000 to the Lambussie Health Directorate. The donation includes critical supplies such as:
- 8,000 face masks
- 40 thermometers
- 100 vials of ceftriaxone
- 100 spinal needles
- 5 liters of alcohol-based hand sanitizers
- 2,000 pieces of hand gloves
These items are intended to bridge gaps in essential resources and empower healthcare workers in the district to manage and control the outbreak more effectively.
During the handover ceremony, the MP expressed his deep appreciation for the frontline healthcare workers in Lambussie, praising their tireless efforts and resilience in the face of challenges. Despite shortages in critical resources, these workers continue to provide care with unwavering dedication.
“Supporting our health sector will remain a cornerstone of my work in Parliament, as I firmly believe a healthy population is the foundation of progress,” stated the MP.
At the time of the donation, 11 suspected CSM cases had been reported in the district, with one tragic death and another patient still receiving treatment. The MP urged the community to adopt preventive measures to help curb the spread of the disease, such as improving the handling of the deceased, avoiding overcrowded gatherings, and seeking medical attention promptly at the first sign of symptoms.
He reassured constituents that treatment and supplies are available at no cost, and there is no reason to delay seeking medical care.
Mr. Bin-eranaa Jerdu Nuhu, the District Director of Health Services, received the donation on behalf of the Lambussie Health Directorate. He expressed gratitude for the timely support and affirmed that the donation meets the Directorate’s most urgent needs.
The MP and Mr. Nuhu jointly called on other individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to come forward and contribute to the efforts in combating the meningitis outbreak and safeguarding the health of the Lambussie community.
