In a passionate appeal on the floor of Parliament, the Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Professor Titus Beyuo, has called for the establishment of a college of education in the Lambussie district to address the urgent need for post-secondary educational institutions in the area.

The MP made his appeal after noticing in the Appendix One of the business paper of Parliament the planned construction of a new college of education, which is budgeted for under the GETFund and the Ministry of Education. Beyuo seized the opportunity to advocate for the college to be constructed in his district.

He stated:

“I would on this note make a special appeal on Appendix One. I noticed the construction of one new college of education budgeted for. I want to make a special appeal on behalf of the good people of Lambussie that this college of education should come to Lambussie.”

Beyuo continued by highlighting the lack of any post-secondary educational institutions in the district, despite having a population of over 50,000 people. He emphasized that Lambussie has the potential to host a college, with land readily available, and both the chiefs and the community are fully supportive of such a development.

“Lambussie is a district in the Upper West Region with over 50,000 population, and Mr. Speaker, we don’t have any post-secondary educational institution. We plead with the GETFund board, the Ministry of Education, and the government in general that when they are considering sites for the new college of education, they should humbly consider Lambussie as a site for this important educational institution.” He concluded
