The ongoing confirmation process for Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) nominees across the eleven districts of the Upper West Region has seen the Regional Coordinating Council successfully confirm an additional four nominees. This brings the total number of confirmed DCEs to eight, with the process nearing its conclusion.

The latest confirmation results are as follows:

Sissala West – Fuseini Gbene Abudu: Secured 100% confirmation with all 30 assembly members present voting “YES”.

Lambussie – Naawulie Ireneous Basingbie: Also achieved 100% confirmation, with all 35 assembly members present voting “YES”.

Lawra – Alhaji Muazu: Secured confirmation with 93% of the vote, with 33 “YES” votes and 8 “NO” votes out of the 41 assembly members present.

With these confirmations, eight out of the eleven MMDCE nominees for the Upper West Region have now been approved by their respective assemblies.

The confirmation exercise is set to conclude with the confirmation votes for the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa and Nadowli-Kaleo districts.

Note : A new date will be fix for the second attempt to confirm Adamu Sayibu, DCE nominee of Wa East.

Wa East is the only district which failed to secure confirmation for the DCE nominee in the upper west region by far.

On the first attempt, Adamu Sayibu Adamu Was outrightly rejected after garnering only 13 “Yes” votes against 23 “No” votes.

The outcome of this second attempt will be closely watched, particularly in light of the speculated traditional power balance issues that reportedly contributed to his initial rejection.
