The information available on the official website of Ghana education service (Ghanaeducation.org) indicates that Ghanaian Universities increasing fees by some 30% for the 2023 academic year. The increase is expected to affect both new and continuing public and private university students across the country

The main aim of increments in fees is to ensure universities can cover their administrative cost and other expenses incurred given the current price level of goods and services in the country.

The expected increase in fees for tertiary students in 2023 means parents whose wards will be entering the university for the first time would have to start planning how to save enough for the tertiary education of their wards. For students who are funding their education all by themselves, they would have to map up strategies to start looking for funding ahead of reopening in January.
