Gospel musician Nhyira Betty has taken to social media to call out Ghana Music Rights Organisation for sending her a paltry GHs153 as royalties after 17 years of making music with 5 albums.

Nhyira Betty received GH153 as royalties through a Mobile Money alert. She shared a screenshot of the message: “After five albums with 2 hit songs “Yebedm Wire” Bema ena”, Ghana Music Rights Organization(GHAMRO) sent me, Nhyira Betty, Official Music 153 Ghana cedis. It was 400 the first time they started sharing but reduce to this amount, 153 (hundred and fifty-three Ghana cedis).”

According to Nhyira Betty, after 17 years of being a musician with hit songs under her belt, this amount did not befit her achievements. She added that musicians in other countries, like South Africa, enjoy better benefits from their music.

“These songs of mine are played and performed everywhere. Please, check my YouTube channel for the songs talking about. If 17 years in the gospel music industry, I get this payment share, what will the upcoming ones get?” she continued, asking stakeholders to work on these issues.
