Ridge Hospital assault : Bernard Mornah condemns GRNMA general secretary over ‘derogatory’ comments
Bernard Ambataaya Mornah, the presidential candidate for the People’s National Convention (PNC) in the 2024 general elections, has expressed profound dismay over what he describes as the “unmistakably derogatory comments” made by the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang.
Dr. Tenkorang’s comments were in response to a suggestion by Health Minister Mintah Akandoh, who posited that the recent violence at the emergency unit of Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), involving a citizen and a rotational nurse, could be a result of delays in patient care. Dr. Tenkorang described the minister’s suggestion as “senseless” and a sign of “ignorance on health care delivery,” further stating that whoever wrote the statement was a “farmer.”
Mr. Bernard Mornah has since voiced his dismay over the defense mounted by some Ghanaians in support of Dr. Tenkorang’s remarks.
“It is crucial to acknowledge that no profession is subordinate to another. Indeed, farming is the oldest profession, and without farming, no person can survive. As a proud farmer, I assert that disagreements may arise, but the haughty and seemingly arrogant behavior of Dr. David Tenkorang must be swiftly and firmly condemned,” Mr. Mornah stated.
While calling for leaders to be treated with dignity, Mornah also condemned the reported attack on the nurse at Ridge Hospital. He added that he anticipates a speedy conclusion to the investigation being conducted by the committee set up to look into the disturbance.
