Teacher Trainees Of Agona College Of Education Threatened To Be Sacked Over Spending Fees On Sports Betting And Hookups In Luxurious Hotels.

Dr Peter Ofori Attakorah, the Principal of Agona College Of Education has publicly shared his frustrations over the refusal of students of the said institution to pay their fees threatening to sack those students who owes the college fees.

According to him, he launched an investigation into the refusal of students to pay their fees and the results of his investigation revealed that, the defaulting students who are almost over 300 students have spent their fees on sports betting, booking expensive hotels with their girlfriends while others have also invested theirs in other businesses. He revealed the defaulters owe the college a whooping 500,000 cedis.

“None of the first years currently owe fees. But those in level 200, 300 and more especially 400 are the ones owing.
some of them have spent the money their parents gave to them to pay their fees. Most of them have spent it on sports betting while others have used it on other irresponsible lifestyles. The information I have is that some of the went to sleep with their girlfriends in hotels. Others have also invested their fee in other businesses, Dr Attakorah noted on an interview on Kessben Radio.

The principal lamented that the incident plunged the school into a financial upheaval. “This has led the school into serious financial crisis because this is the same money used for various expenses in running the school”, he grieved.

He is therefore pushed to given the defaulting students a one week ultimatum of paying the fees or risked being sacked from the college.

“We have given all of them up a week to settle their debts, failure for which they will all be sent home”, he warned.

“I am appealing to parents, if your ward is in the school and is owing fees while you have given them the money, please come to the school, verify and settle whatever debt they owe. If not we will send them home because we also need money to run the school, he added.
