Ministry of Education have officially announce the approval granted to Heads of Students for a two-week procurement period from 22nd January to 3rd February 2025. This approval is part of an interim measure to enhance the feeding situation in public second cycle institutions, including Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools, and STEM Schools across the country.
To facilitate the implementation of this program, the Ministry has disbursed funds based on student enrollment and an approved feeding rate of Seven Cedis Fifty Pesewas (¢7.50) per boarding student and Three Cedis (¢3.00) per day for day students. Schools are encouraged to use these funds to procure approved food items that are available locally, ensuring the smooth execution of the program for the specified two-week duration.
For Public Day Schools, Heads are instructed to engage private caterers to provide hot meals for students at the approved feeding rate.
Regional Directors are asked to communicate this information to all Heads of public Senior High Schools, Senior High Technical Schools, and STEM schools, urging strict compliance with the Public Procurement and Financial Management Regulations.
The Ministry expects that all Heads of Schools will follow the prescribed guidelines diligently to ensure the successful implementation of the feeding program and the well-being of students during this interim measure.
