After assuming office as Chief Executive Officer of the Produce Buying Company (PBC), Mr. Seidu Yonye has embarked on a working visit to various subsidiaries within the company. This initiative reflects his commitment to gaining firsthand understanding of their operations and the challenges they face.
Accompanied by his two deputies, Mr. Seidu Yonye commenced his tour with a visit to Bean Lodge in Dansoman. Following an assessment of the facility, the CEO pledged to explore alternative strategies for its revitalization, including potential public-private partnerships. He also asserted the significant potential of Bean Lodge to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs and contribute to government revenue if properly revamped and invested in.
The PBC team then proceeded to the PBC Tema Branch. Upon their arrival, they observed that the facility was largely unoccupied, with only the branch manager present whom took the team to a tour of the facility.
The insightful familiarization tour concluded with visits to other key offices within PBC’s subsidiary network. During these visits, Mr. Seidu Yonye reaffirmed his commitment to working assiduously to give the subsidiaries a befitting facelift. He also charged the staff to work diligently towards “resetting” the company and improving its overall performance.
Established in 1981, the Produce Buying Company (PBC) holds a critical position within Ghana’s cocoa sector, responsible for purchasing and marketing cocoa beans from numerous farmers across the country.
The company also aims to be the leading economically viable service provider in the cocoa and broader agricultural produce sector, as well as in hospitality and agro-processing within the West African sub-region. Mr. Yonye’s proactive engagement with the subsidiaries underscores his focus on understanding their needs and potential, signaling a drive towards strategic improvements and growth for the PBC.
