The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the introduction of new fees for Ghana Card services at selected premium registration centres across the country.
According to a notice shared on the NIA’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the new charges include:
- First-time registration and record updates will each be priced at GHC 310.00.
- A card replacement will cost GHC 420.00.
- Updating records and replacing cards simultaneously will be charged at GHC 355.00.
- Nationality updates will incur a fee of GHC 365.00.

These fees apply exclusively to services rendered at the premium registration centres, and the NIA clarified that these charges have been in effect since May 2024.
However, it’s important to note that the first-time issuance of the Ghana Card remains free at all centres, including the district offices. The NIA also specified that card replacements at district offices nationwide will cost GHC 125.00.
The Ghana Card continues to serve as the official national identity card for all Ghanaians, both within the country and abroad. It provides proof of identity, citizenship, and residency, and incorporates biometric data for secure authentication.
Since its launch, the Ghana Card has become essential for accessing government services, banking, healthcare, and electoral processes. Over 18 million Ghanaians have been successfully registered, and the NIA extended its reach to Ghanaians living abroad in 2024, issuing the first card in Ottawa, Canada.
