Renowned Ghanaian dancehall artist Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy, has been officially dropped from the lineup for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Victory Concert scheduled for this Sunday. This decision comes in the wake of significant backlash from NDC supporters on social media.

The controversy erupted when party members expressed their dissatisfaction with Stonebwoy’s inclusion in the concert lineup, citing his actions during the recent election campaign as detrimental to the NDC’s interests. Supporters argued that Stonebwoy, who hails from Ashaiman, had displayed affiliations or sympathies towards the opposing New Patriotic Party (NPP), making his participation in the NDC’s celebratory event inappropriate.

The protests on social media platforms were vociferous, with numerous posts highlighting their grievances. In response, the concert organizers have confirmed the artist’s exclusion from the event, which contradicts earlier promotional materials that named Stonebwoy as part of the celebration.

This development underscores the influence of grassroots movements within political parties and their capacity to affect decisions on how events are managed and who is featured. The NDC’s choice to heed the call of its supporters reflects an effort to maintain party unity and loyalty in the aftermath of a contentious election.

Further updates on the revised lineup for the NDC Victory Concert are expected to be announced shortly.
