In a significant display of corporate social responsibility, the Volta River Authority (VRA) has revamped the Kaleo D/A Primary School in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region. This initiative aims to enrich education and promote community development by providing essential infrastructure and facilities.

Before the renovation, the Kaleo D/A Primary School lacked critical resources necessary for effective teaching and learning. Recognizing the importance of education and the school’s strategic location between VRA’s solar power plants at Kaleo, the Authority embarked on a comprehensive upgrade.

At the handover ceremony, Ing. Abdul Noor Wahab, Acting Director of Water Resources and Renewable Energy at VRA, underscored the significance of the school’s transformation. He emphasized VRA’s collaborative efforts with relevant authorities to identify and address infrastructural deficiencies, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students.

The renovation encompassed various aspects, including the replacement of doors and windows, provision of desks, construction of boreholes, repair of kitchen buildings, and installation of toilet facilities. These enhancements aim to elevate the standard of education and facilitate community progress in the region.

Madam Sophia Sabogu, Head Teacher of Kaleo D/A Primary School, expressed profound gratitude to VRA for the transformative intervention. She highlighted the positive impact of the renovation on students, teachers, and the wider community, emphasizing the school’s historical significance since its establishment in 1947.

The handing over ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the District Chief Executive, Regional Education Director, and representatives from VRA. Despite being on recess, students enthusiastically participated in the celebration, showcasing the collective joy and appreciation for the enhanced learning environment.
