In a heartening development, Lance Corporal Ebenezer, a police officer stationed in Nadowli, the district capital of the Nadolwi-Kaleo district in the Upper West Region, has taken responsibility for his actions and pledged to support the recovery of Mr. Richard Kpere, a resident of Nadowli who he assaulted, leading to a leg fracture.

The incident, which occurred earlier this week, involved Lance Corporal Ebenezer assaulting Mr. Richard Kpere and his colleague as they were returning from a nearby community. This act of abuse of power and violence prompted public outcry and prompted a meeting to address the issue.

Under the initiative of the district police commander, a meeting was held on Wednesday, bringing together the victim’s family, community representatives, and Lance Corporal Ebenezer. During the meeting, the police officer admitted his mistake and expressed remorse for his actions. He pledged to take full responsibility for the victim’s medical bills and daily expenses for him and his family until a full recovery is achieved.

Mr. Zinenuba Peter, the family head of Richard Kpere, along with the Nadowli East Assemblyman, actively participated in the meeting and welcomed Lance Corporal Ebenezer’s commitment to make amends.

Mr. Peter condemned the police officer’s assault and urged the regional police command to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure appropriate punitive measures are taken.
