Lionel Messi buys customized gold iPhones for World Cup-winning Argentina team and staff

Lionel Messi, the FIFA World Cup champion for Argentina, ordered gold iPhones for each member of his squad and support personnel that participated in the historic victory over France in the final in Qatar 2022.

The 24-carat jewelry, valued at £175,000 (about GH2.6 million), has the player names, numbers, and the Argentine insignia etched on it, according to a report in The Sun. On Saturday, Messi had them delivered to his apartment in Paris.

“Lionel wanted to do something unique and blingy to honor his proudest moment,” their insider was quoted by The Sun as adding. He got in touch with businessman Ben Lyons, and the two of them jointly developed the design.

The CEO of iDesign Gold, Ben, was also quoted in the article as saying, “Lionel is not only the Goat, but he’s one of IDESIGN GOLD’s most devoted customers and contacted us a few months after the World Cup final. He claimed he didn’t want the customary watch gift and instead wanted something special for all the players and staff to celebrate the incredible victory.
