On Thursday, March 9, 2023, a non-governmental organization called “LifeAgain” with headquarters in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital, organized the second edition of the teenage mother’s leadership conference with the goal of assisting teenage girls and mothers to overcome the challenges they currently face.

The founder and executive director of “LifeAgain,” Madam Saudatu Mohammed, addressed hundreds of teenage mothers at the Wa Regional Library and said that the organization’s primary goal is to support teenage mothers who have dropped out of school and to empower young girls to prevent teenage pregnancies and related issues.

According to Dr. Saudatu, the organization has supported 40 young mothers in the area over the course of three years. Some of these mothers chose to return to school to further their education, while the others choose to pursue a trade.

She stated that 120 teenage mothers attended this year’s event, compared to 50 the year before.

As she urged coordinated efforts to make life better for teenage moms, the director emphasized that poverty and inadequate parental care are the primary causes of all the issues they face.

Teenage moms were encouraged to work with LifeAgain to help them make educated decisions by the regional director for the department of gender, Madam Charity Batuuro.

In order to give them a better life, get them back in school, and get them the skills training they need to support themselves, Madam Charity reassured that her organization is prepared to work with NGOs like LifeAgain.

Teenage moms were informed by the regional public relations officer of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Justine Kpan, that all basic schools have been instructed by the government, through the Ministry of Education, to allow teenage mothers the option to return to school after giving birth.

He expressed his gratitude to LifeAgain and the other partners for helping the young mothers make plans for a better future.

A few recipients spoke about their experiences and expressed gratitude to LifeAgain for the chance.
