The University for Development Studies (UDS) has announced the indefinite postponement of the 2024/2025 Academic Year reopening, which was initially scheduled for September 27, 2024.
This decision follows the ongoing industrial action by key university staff unions, including the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU-TUC), which has disrupted academic services across public universities.
In a statement issued by UDS Management, the university acknowledged the impact of the strike on critical academic and administrative functions, making it impossible to commence the academic year as planned.
Students and the general public are advised to remain patient, as the university will provide updates on the reopening once the industrial action is resolved. The university administration is closely monitoring the situation and will communicate any changes to the academic calendar promptly.
For now, both fresh and continuing students are urged to stay informed through official UDS channels for further instructions regarding the 2024/2025 academic year
