The McCoy college AstroTurf in Nadowli has officially been approved as the home grounds for Wa Sore Nante FC and Wa Power SC, two Division Two League clubs based in the Upper West Region. This decision follows the disapproval of the Wa Park by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) club licensing board, which was initially intended to host their home matches.
The turning point came when the Vice President of the GFA, Mr. Mark Addo, visited the McCoy College of Education facility at the request of the UWRFA. Impressed by the infrastructure, Mr. Addo acted swiftly, securing the necessary approvals for the Wa-based teams to use the Nadowli Astro Turf.
Previously, both Access bank divison one teams were required to relocate to the Naa Sheriga Astro Turf in Nalerigu to play their home games. This arrangement placed a heavy financial burden on the clubs, with the logistical costs—from transportation to accommodation—piling up.
The approval of McCoy AstroTurf as their home ground comes as a huge relief, allowing the clubs to avoid the long-distance travel and high expenses associated with the relocation.
