Ghanaian actress and socialite, Rosemond Alade Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, recently opened up about the challenges and positive aspects of embracing Islam in her life. Speaking in an interview with blogger Sammy Kay, which coincided with her birthday party, she shared her feelings of being “stuck” due to the limitations imposed by her newfound faith.

Akuapem Poloo explained, “I’m struggling, now I’m a Muslim, the religion hates some things. So, it’s like I’m stuck. When you become a Muslim, nobody will tell you not to do certain things. Immediately you enter the mosque and come out, no one will tell you to stop doing certain things.” Despite the challenges she faces, she also emphasized the opportunities she has had to connect with influential figures within the Islamic community.

The actress, who is a devoted mother to her son, also spoke about her desire to expand her family. However, she stressed the importance of marriage before having more children. Reflecting on her past experiences, Akuapem Poloo shared that she met her son’s father at a young age, and although he initially promised to marry her before her pregnancy, circumstances changed, leading to their separation. As a single mother, she has learned valuable lessons and is now focused on personal growth, determined not to repeat past mistakes.

“Now that I am mature and of age, I want to add another one to my baby,” she expressed. “Yes, I really want to give birth. I have asked Allah to help me get married first. I don’t want to repeat the same mistakes again because, by then, I was young and in my youth. Now I want to get married before I give birth, but I want that to happen either this year or next year.”

Akuapem Poloo surprised her fans earlier this year when she announced her decision to embrace Islam. According to the actress, her choice was not influenced by others but rather stemmed from her own desire to join the religion, as many of her friends in school were Muslim, and her son is also a Muslim. She expressed her happiness and gratitude for finally being a part of the religion she had always wanted to join.
