Ghanaian afropop singer, Fancy Gadam has stated that he chose dominant fanbase over hit songs, and it’s imperative for one to suggests that his decision has made it possible for him to fill entertainment centers with his musical concerts. The likes of Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale which he has filed severally, the Bukom Banku Boxing Arena, the National Theatre in Accra and many others.

“I have always said that my fans made me who I am today and I will always choose them over any other thing. If I’m given the opportunity to choose between my fan base and hit songs, I will hurriedly go for my fans.

“There are so many hit songs with no personality or name to identify with because they don’t even have a fan base who share their songs and images. For instance, I know of artistes who are popular just in Accra.

“However, everyone can attest that, apart from ruling the music scene in the North, I am also quite popular in Accra and other regions and that has been possible because of the fans who push my works.

“If Fancy Gadam can come from the North to fill the Boxing Arena, one that many Accra-based artistes have not been able to achieve, then that was made possible because my fans were doing something right,” he said.

He also said that contrary to what many Ghanaians thought about his Popular Song of the Year win at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), he was not surprised he won it because he was confident in himself.

“I was not surprised I won that because I knew I had a strong backing from my fans, something that many A-List musicians lack. I was least bothered by the insults that followed,” he stated.

This year, Fancy Gadam will be celebrating his 10th milestone in the music industry and has described his journey as a difficult one.

“It has not been an easy road getting to this destination. My stadium disaster in 2018 which took the lives of some of my fans could have easily ended my career but thanks to my supporters who stood by me,” he said 2018 was a bad year for me – Fancy Gadam
