How to Acquire Driver’s Licenses in Ghana

Aquiring driving lincense in Ghana has over the year been a herdel for a lot of Ghanaians. Below are the steps one needs to follow in other to acquire a driving lincense in Ghana.

To acquire a driving license in Ghana, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Obtain a provisional driving license (PDL): To obtain a PDL, you need to be at least 18 years old and visit the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) with two passport-sized photographs, proof of identity (such as a national ID card or passport), and the application fee.

 

2. Take driving lessons: After obtaining your PDL, you need to enroll in a driving school and take driving lessons. You will need to complete a minimum of 48 hours of practical driving lessons before you can take the driving test.

 

3. Pass the driving test: Once you have completed your driving lessons, you need to take a driving test at the DVLA. The test consists of a written examination on traffic regulations and a practical driving test to assess your driving skills. If you pass both tests, you will be issued a full driving license.

 

4. Obtain your full driving license: After passing your driving test, you need to visit the DVLA to obtain your full driving license. You will need to submit your PDL, the test results, and pay the appropriate fee. The full driving license will be issued to you after processing.

 

It is important to note that the process may vary slightly depending on the type of driving license you are applying for, such as commercial or motorcycle license. It is also advisable to read and understand the traffic regulations in Ghana before applying for a driving license.
