The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action against Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, stationed at the Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region, following allegations of professional misconduct.

In a statement released on Friday, November 21, the Police Service confirmed that the officer had been interdicted with immediate effect after a viral video showed him allegedly assaulting a member of the public.

The interdiction aims to ensure an impartial and thorough investigation into the incident, in line with Police Service Regulations. The Police Service emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and accountability among its officers.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has reached out to the victim’s family to express solidarity and offer support. Furthermore, the IGP has instructed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to collaborate closely with the family to address their concerns and provide necessary assistance.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct and pledged to take appropriate action based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
