At a recent press briefing, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, provided detailed information on the recruitment process for the first batch of degree holders who completed their education in 2022. According to Dr. Nkansah, a total of 21,010 graduates submitted applications to join the teaching service.

Qualified Candidates
Out of these applicants, 12,748 graduates from the 46 government Colleges of Education (CoE) across the country met the qualifications required for recruitment. These individuals are now eligible to begin their teaching careers.

Self-Posting Process
Dr. Nkansah also explained the crucial steps for newly recruited teachers to complete the self-posting process. Here’s a step-by-step guide for successful self-posting:

1. Visit the GES Portal: Go to [gespromotions.gov.gh](https://gespromotions.gov.gh).

2. Verify Qualifications: Enter your College Index Number to confirm your eligibility.

3. Enter Personal Details: Accurately input your phone number and National Teaching Council (NTC) number. These details are essential for validation.

4. Receive OTP: A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the provided phone number.

5. Enter OTP: Input the OTP to proceed.

6. Select Preferences: Choose your preferred Region, District, and School, then click the submit button.

7. Save and Print: Save and print out your Appointment Letter.

Dr. Nkansah emphasized the importance of this process, stating that newly recruited teachers who do not complete these steps will not be validated and thus will not succeed in their self-posting applications.

Importance of QR Codes
“Applicants must note that all appointment letters have QR codes for validation; thus, you can scan the code with any smartphone to check the authenticity of the letter,” Dr. Nkansah explained during the press briefing.

Next Steps for Successful Applicants
Successful applicants are required to visit their respective Regional Education Directorates with their Ghana card and other necessary documents for verification and further instructions.

This streamlined process aims to ensure that the recruitment and placement of teachers are conducted efficiently and transparently, benefiting both the educators and the educational system in Ghana.
