In a surprising turn of events, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia presidential candidate for the NPP in the just ended December 7th parliamentary and presidential election have recorded zero votes in several Kusasi-dominated communities in Bawku Upper East region.
Sources attribute it to a longstanding feud between the Kusasis and the Mamprusis, which reportedly led to chiefs in the Kusasi areas instructing their subjects not to vote for Dr. Bawumia, who is of Mamprusi descent. Additionally, before the elections, the NPP was banned from campaigning in the Kusaug Traditional Area.
