The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department at the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU) has introduced a new one-year certificate program in Information and Communication Technology, set to begin in the 2025/2026 academic year.

According to the Head of Department, Mr. Ismail Zakaria, the program was introduced to equip students with the practical skills needed to thrive in the job market. He noted that many prospective students are interested in ICT but often lack the necessary entry requirements for traditional degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) programs.

Mr. Zakaria outlined a clear pathway for students, explaining that with at least four passes in the WASSCE examination, an individual is qualified to enroll in the one-year certificate program. Upon successful completion, they can then pursue a Tertiary Diploma for another year. This diploma, in turn, can qualify the student to pursue a Degree in IT or Cyber Security for an additional two years, making it a four-year total academic journey.

He urged the public to seize this opportunity to acquire relevant ICT skills, which he believes will significantly enhance their employability and job retention capabilities.

The Head of Department also confirmed that the fee for the one-year certificate program is GH₵ 1,650.
