In a ceremonial event held in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has formally taken over the role of Upper East Regional Minister. The occasion marked the exchange of positions between Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih and the former Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Stephen Yakubu, who has now been appointed as the Upper West Regional Minister.

Attended by dignitaries, traditional leaders, and representatives from both regions, the ceremony symbolized the transition of power and marked the beginning of a new era in the governance of the Upper East Region.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih expressed gratitude to President Nana Akufo Addo for entrusting him with the responsibility to serve the people of the Upper East Region. He pledged to work tirelessly to promote development and maintain peace throughout the area.

A primary focus of Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih’s tenure will be addressing the long-standing Bawku conflict, which has plagued the region for years, resulting in loss of lives, displacement of residents, and overall instability in the Bawku municipality. Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih emphasized his commitment to finding a lasting solution to this issue, highlighting the importance of peace and stability for the region’s development.

To achieve this goal, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih intends to engage in dialogue with all stakeholders, including community leaders, religious groups, and the youth, to understand the root causes of the conflict and develop strategies to address them. He also pledged to collaborate closely with security agencies to ensure law and order are maintained throughout the region.

In addition to resolving the Bawku conflict, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih outlined his plans to promote development in various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the Upper East Region and vowed to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including the central government, development partners, and local communities, to implement projects that will improve the quality of life for the people in the region.
