The Bussie community in the Daffiama-Bussei-Issa district of the upper west region is reeling from the aftermath of a devastating storm that struck on the night of March 3rd, 2024.

Heavy rains and strong winds inflicted significant damage across the community. Homes, buildings, power poles, houses of worship, schools, and commercial centers all bore the brunt of the storm. Assembly member Prosper Maaledoma estimates over 65 houses were damaged, impacting areas like Chabah, Tuori, and Owlo. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties.

Mr. Maaledoma emphasizes the need for immediate support and links the storm’s severity to deforestation in the area. The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is currently assessing the damage and will forward a report to the regional office.

Community Rebuilding:

The District Chief Executive, Nadi Imoro Sanda, visited Bussie and pledged government assistance to the victims. However, additional support is crucial for a full recovery.
