The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) has announced the appointment of Mr. Abdul-Rahaman Zakaria, ChPA, as its new Deputy Director-General. Mr. Zakaria will work closely with the Director-General to oversee and manage the commission’s broad range of responsibilities.

In his new role, Mr. Zakaria will be instrumental in ensuring the effective implementation of CTVET policies, fostering alignment across all departments with the commission’s strategic objectives, and cultivating strong and productive partnerships with government bodies, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions.

Mr. Zakaria brings over eighteen years of significant leadership and administrative experience from his tenure at the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU).

His track record demonstrates a proven ability to translate strategic visions into tangible day-to-day results. During his time as Deputy Registrar at DHLTU, he spearheaded key initiatives aimed at streamlining student services and modernizing academic processes.

Subsequently, as the Director of Public Affairs, he effectively led the university’s communications, community outreach efforts, and reputation management, consistently working in close collaboration with the university’s leadership.

Throughout his distinguished career at DHLTU, Mr. Zakaria actively served on several key governance bodies, including the Governing Council, the Academic Board (as the Convocation Representative), the Staff Development & Scholarships Committee, and the University’s Editorial Board.

In each of these roles, he demonstrated a balanced approach, effectively combining strategic big-picture planning with hands-on problem-solving, successfully forging consensus among stakeholders, and consistently delivering tangible improvements.

Mr. Zakaria’s impressive academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and an Executive MBA from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a Bachelor of Management Studies degree from the University of Cape Coast, and an HND in Secretaryship & Management Studies from Tamale Technical University.

A Chartered Professional Administrator, he is a valued and active member of both the Chartered Institute of Administrators & Management Consultants–Ghana and the Institute of Public Relations–Ghana.

With his wealth of experience and expertise, Mr. Zakaria is poised to provide strong support to the Director-General’s leadership at CTVET. He is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the commission’s operational excellence and contributing significantly to the development of a responsive and future-ready Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system for Ghana.
