“To serve is to lead”—Assemblyman Hon. A. Walid Jnr has exemplified this mantra by donating computers to the Chegli Islamic JHS and Primary School.
The donation, made on behalf of his father, Mr. Umar, a benevolent individual from the Chegli community, aims to support the integration of practical ICT teaching and learning in the school. This contribution follows a successful earlier initiative where Hon. A. Walid Jnr partnered with Tech Aid for Rural Development (TARD) to provide temporary computer access for students.
A few months ago, TARD offered students at Chegli Islamic JHS a hands-on opportunity to learn ICT and STEM subjects, sparking enthusiasm among the pupils and educators. Observing the impact of this initiative, Mr. Umar was inspired to make a lasting contribution by donating permanent computers to the school.
The school administration and community members expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Umar and Hon. A. Walid Jnr for their generosity. The donation is expected to improve students’ academic performance in ICT and foster an early interest in technology.
“We are thankful to Mr. Umar for his thoughtful gesture and pray for blessings to sustain his goodwill,” head master of the school remarked.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts to bridge the digital divide in rural areas, ensuring students in communities like Chegli are not left behind in the digital age. It further demonstrates how individual and community-driven actions can create meaningful impacts in education.
