The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education, Ghana (PRINCOF) has officially announced a revision to the re-opening date for the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year for trainees. The new re-opening date is now set for January 27, 2025, replacing the previously scheduled date of January 13, 2025.

This change was communicated after a General Meeting held in Sogakofe on January 8, 2025, where the decision was made. According to the statement from PRINCOF, the adjustment was necessitated by unforeseen circumstances* that require immediate attention.

PRINCOF stated that the revised date allows them sufficient time to address the issues causing the delay and ensure that the academic year begins smoothly. The organization acknowledged the potential inconvenience this change may cause to students, staff, and stakeholders, and issued a sincere apology for any disruptions.

“We are committed to addressing these matters effectively and are collaborating with the relevant authorities to ensure everything is in place for the new academic year,” PRINCOF assured.

PRINCOF urged staff, students, and other stakeholders in the Colleges of Education to take note of the new re-opening date and plan accordingly. The organization emphasized that the delay is temporary, and efforts are being made to ensure that the academic calendar proceeds smoothly thereafter.

PRINCOF also referenced the ongoing situation with CETAG, which recently declared an indefinite strike over unresolved labor issues, but assured that steps are being taken to resolve the situation and minimize disruptions to the educational process.
