Alhaji Gbangu Donates GH¢25,000 to Bahass Mental Home to Honour Helicopter Crash Victims
In a moving tribute to lives lost in the tragic August 6 helicopter crash, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Alhaji Alhassan Gbangu has donated GH¢25,000 to the Bahass Foundation — a beacon of hope for mentally ill persons in Wa, Upper West Region.
The donation, announced on Friday, August 15, will fully cover one year’s rent for the Bahass Mental Home, a facility dedicated to housing and rehabilitating individuals living with mental health conditions. The gesture was made in honour of the eight government officials who perished in the crash, whose burial was held earlier that day at the Military Cemetery.
Alhaji Gbangu, a native of Wa Limanyiri, is widely respected not only for his business acumen but also for his unwavering commitment to uplifting the vulnerable. His philanthropic footprint spans education, health, and social welfare — with this latest act reinforcing his legacy of compassion.
A long-standing member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Gbangu previously chaired the party’s Upper West Regional Finance Committee (2014–2018) and has served on several national committees, offering strategic insight and support.
Officials of the Bahass Foundation expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the donation as a timely intervention that will significantly enhance the wellbeing of residents. “This support comes at a critical moment,” one official noted, “and it reflects the kind of leadership our community needs — one rooted in empathy and action.”
