A big campaign to fight drug abuse among the youth has been launched at the Wa Senior High School Assembly Hall. The event, called the “Baapaaleba Baasung” project, was organized by the Aware Minds Youth Group and brought together thousands of students, teachers, and special guests.
During the launch, Alhaj Sisco gave a powerful message to the youth. He asked them to stop taking drugs, saying it is destroying their future. He encouraged young people to focus on their education and make good life decisions. He also sent a strong warning to those who sell drugs, telling them to stop spoiling the lives of young people.
Miss Sufyan Sena Masiata, the leader of Aware Minds Youth Group, said the project was created to help young people learn about the dangers of drugs and make better choices. She was happy to see many students attend and listen.
The event received support from many key organizations including the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ghana Education Service (GES), Narcotics Control Commission, Pharmacy Council, and the Ghana Youth Authority. Representatives from these groups gave talks to inspire and educate the youth.
Madam Vida, the Regional Youth Director, also spoke at the event. She advised the youth to rise above peer pressure and focus on building a better future. “Drugs is not the way,” she said, urging them to make smart choices.
Madam Gandaa Bridget, representing the Wa Municipal Assembly, encouraged the youth with these words: “Your future is too precious to waste on drugs. Peer pressure is real, but so is your strength. You have a voice, a choice, and a community that believes in you.”
The launch of the “Baapaaleba Baasung” project was a great success. Many students said they were touched by the messages and promised to stay away from drugs and help their friends do the same. The campaign continues to raise awareness and hopes to create a drug-free future for the youth.
