Albayaan Ghana is proud to announce its active participation in this year’s Green Ghana Day, scheduled for June 7th, 2024. With the theme, “Growing for a greener tomorrow” spearheaded by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. This initiative is a key component of the government’s broader strategy to address environmental challenges, including deforestation and climate change, and to promote sustainable development through mass tree planting across the country.
As part of our mission to address climate change and environmental conservation for a greener, healthier Ghana, Albayaan Ghana is committed to contributing to this national effort by participation in this year’s Green Ghana Day tree planting activities in various places.
Green Ghana Day is more than just a tree-planting exercise; it is a crucial movement aimed at restoring Ghana’s depleted forest cover, which has seen a significant decline due to deforestation and urbanization. The initiative not only seeks to improve air quality and combat climate change but also to enhance biodiversity and support livelihoods dependent on forest resources.
In collaboration with local schools, community groups, and other NGOs, Albayaan Ghana will be leading tree planting events in multiple areas. Our volunteers and staff will distribute and plant thousands of tree seedlings, including indigenous species that are vital for maintaining ecological balance.
We will also provide educational sessions on the importance of tree planting and environmental stewardship. These sessions aim to instill a sense of responsibility and ownership in the local communities, particularly among the youth, ensuring the sustainability of these efforts.
