Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata has made it clear that he would never endorse a political party, even if offered a substantial amount like $1 million. In an interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, the artist expressed his concerns about the negative impact such an endorsement could have on his reputation and career.

Key Points from the Interview:

Kofi Kinaata highlighted the hostility in Ghana towards artistes who align with political parties. He believes this can lead to stigmatization and negatively affect their careers.

While Kinaata is open to performing at political gatherings if officially invited, he draws the line at composing campaign songs or endorsing any political party.

When asked if he would accept a $1 million proposal to endorse a political party, Kinaata firmly said no. He reiterated that the potential harm to his reputation outweighs any financial gain.

Kinaata pointed out that other professionals like carpenters, electricians, and DJs contribute to political rallies without facing the same stigma as musicians. He believes that if this stigmatization were to stop, artistes might feel more comfortable engaging with political parties.

Due to the high political tensions in Ghana, Kinaata advocates for staying neutral. He hopes for a peaceful selection of leaders, after which everyone can come together to support the elected officials.
