In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old girl, identified as Hamida Adam, lost her life while attempting to swim in a 10-feet deep manhole filled with water in Nakori, Upper West Region.
The distressing incident was reported to the Wa Municipal Fire Station, prompting a swift response from a team of rescuers. After their efforts, the lifeless body of Hamida Adam, a pupil of Angel International School, was retrieved from the manhole.

According to the statement issued by the Regional Fire Service, the unfortunate incident occurred when Hamida ventured to swim in the 10-feet deep manhole, unaware of the danger it posed. The presence of water in the manhole may have enticed her, leading to the tragic accident.

The retrieved body has been handed over to the Police for further investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s death.
